The Lifeskills Centre can accommodate a maximum of 40 pupils per session, as we find that the pupils work best in groups of three or four.

A Lifeskills visit is tailored to Year 6 pupils, but exceptions can be made if schools have joint Year 5/Year 6 classes.

Sessions run from 10.00am-12.00 noon and from 1.00pm-3.00pm daily.

The cost for a two hour visit is £6 per head, to include:

  • A guided interactive tour for pupils
  • Lifeskills Detective investigation sheet and certificates for each child
  • An attendance certificate for each school

Bookings for the school year 2008-2009 are now full.

Bookings for the school year 2009-2010 will open in February 2009.

Bookings can be made by telephone only - 0117 9224511. No bookings will be taken by mail, fax or e-mail.

Telephone 0117 9224511 to book your school trip.

If you wish to extend your visit to a whole day you could combine your visit to the Lifeskills Centre with a trip to any of the following attractions:

  • Recycling exhibition at The CREATE Centre
  • SS Great Britain and the Matthew
  • Historical Bristol Docks
  • The Industrial Museum
  • The Suspension Bridge and Downs
  • Bristol Zoo
  • Bristol Museums
  • @Bristol

Packed lunches, if brought, can be eaten in a nearby park (weather permitting), but unfortunately Lifeskills does not have canteen facilities.

In order that the children can benefit best from the visit, please note the following:

  • girls should wear trousers or tracksuit bottoms - not skirts (there are inter-active opportunities)
  • it would be helpful if each child could wear a badge clearly stating their first name e.g. John or Joanne (a sticky label will suffice)
  • the visit will take approximately two hours. There is no need for anyone to bring any equipment or materials, and in particular children should not bring mobile phones
  • any recent known traumatic incidents which have occurred to any of the party e.g. loss of close relative or friend in a road accident or fire should be notified to Lifeskills staff on arrival, as should any medical or behavioural difficulties that are likely to be relevant
  • teachers and adults (at least two please) accompanying the group will be asked to participate by staffing "emergency telephones" and supporting other areas of work. There will, however, be ample opportunity for them to see the Lifeskills Centre for themselves
  • please do not over brief the children about Lifeskills. Our experience is that they react best to the scenarios and learn most when they have little prior knowledge
  • please bring a list of children attending Lifeskills in case of a fire alarm
